Novato Creek Watershed
- Explore Olompali State Historic Park which encompasses land that has been a cultural crossroads, beginning with a large Coast Miwok village. The name "olompali" comes from the lost Miwok language and may be translated as "southern village" or "southern people." There is a project underway to build several structures representative of a Coast Miwok village. The village will be used as an interpretive and educational site. For more information.
Miller Creek Watershed
- Big Rock Ridge Open Space trails provide breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay all the while hiking to the 2nd highest point in Marin. From this vantage point look south into the Miller Creek Watershed, home to Steelhead trout. Turn around and face north to look into the Pacheco Creek Watershed.
Gallinas Creek Watershed
- Santa Venetia Marsh Open Space Preserve- experience a salt water marsh environment and view many shore birds including the rare California clapper rail.
- Visit Pickleweed Park to see shorebirds and waterfowl during winter migration.
China Camp Watershed
- China Camp State Park features extensive intertidal, salt marsh, meadow and oak habitats that are home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, squirrels and numerous birds. Also see the historic remains of the thriving fishing village. For more information.
Corta Madera Creek Watershed
- Mount Tamalpais State Park is home to the coast redwood, Calypso orchid, Douglas-fir, California laurel, and California poppy. Wildlife includes raccoons, gray foxes, squirrels, bobcats, coyotes, black-tailed deer, red-tail hawks, and spotted owls. For more information.
- Mount Tamalpais Interpretive Association has information about guided hikes and special hikes focusing on wildflowers, weather etc.
- Fairfax has many great trails and creeks to explore. For more information.
Tiburon Watershed
- Ring Mountain Open Space Preserve contains some of the most unusual natural landscape in Marin County. See the great variety and abundance of flowers from late March to June. In late May, look for the rare brown lily, Tiburon Calachortus, only found on Ring Mountain.
- Visit Muir Woods National Monument home to a majestic grove of redwood trees. For more information.
