When the shopping center was redeveloped in 2007 the designs triggered new stormwater requirements to treat the runoff from new or replaced impervious surfaces (buildings, sidewalks, and parking area). The design incorporated bioretention areas in each of the parking islands that all of the impervious surfaces drain to through cut out sections in the concrete parking curbs.
